Trending Colors for 2022 | Color of the Year

A new year and new trending colors! The design color gods have spoken (aka all the major paint brands) and they have collectively agreed on one thing- 2022 is the year of green! As we delve into color psychology for a minute, we will find that designing with shades of green is meant to evoke tranquil calming emotions. After the craziness of the past few years, it’s no surprise that the design world is turning to harmonious natural design to evoke peace within a home. Home is a shelter from the outside world and design is no longer about simply creating a beautiful space, it is about creating a beautiful space that is comfortable, cozy, and a personal haven.

Sherwin Williams: Evergreen Fog

Sherwin Williams’s color of the year for 2022 is Evergreen fog. A gorgeous mix of green with gray undertones, Sherwin Williams reportedly chose this color for its chameleon properties that are subtle enough to go with just about anything yet stunning in its own right.

Benjamin Moore: October Mist

Benjamin Moore’s color of the year is October mist. According to Benjamin Moore, “ This gently shaded sage quietly anchors a space, while encouraging individual expression through color.” Their coordinating color trends are all muted pastels with botanical hues. With that said it’s quite obvious that Benjamin Moore has their finger on the pulse on what is trending in home design for 2022.

PPG: Olive Spring

PPG chose Olive Spring as their color of the year because it “represents healing, regrowth, and resiliency post-pandemic”. This fresh green color is the brightest of the greens chosen by different paint retailers and is suitable for those who want more of a pop in their home.
